The belief that nearly killed my momentum...

(And stopped me from making money)

When I first started online business 3.5 years ago,

All I wanted to do was build my own thing and not somebody else’s.

I didn’t need to be a millionaire or move to Dubai.

I just wanted something I could look at and be proud of.

Something I could say “Yeah, I built that. It’s mine.”

But even with all that desire pent up in my mind,

I still felt stuck.

It didn’t matter how many courses or sales letters I studied…

It didn’t matter how many YouTube videos or books I read…

I still believed I wasn’t ready to work with clients.

I still believed I didn’t know what I was doing.

I still believed running an online business might not be for me (even though I really wanted it)

Looking back now…

It’s quite scary how stuck this kept me.

I thought “If I start before I’m ready, I’ll look unprofessional and lose credibility.”

But it was fear in disguise.

Truth be told I was scared of failing.

And if I go even deeper… I was afraid of succeeding as well.

There came a point where everything changed for me though.

It was when I finally decided to start reaching out to work with clients. (It was scary as hell)

My first one was an older lady who owned a beef jerky company.

I wrote her some website copy and a video script.

Once she paid the invoice and I was done dancing around my room I realized something…

It wasn’t so scary after all.

It was actually kinda fun.

Overcoming that fear and just going for it was the biggest moment in my journey so far.

I’ve come to learn over the years that clients don’t want flawless. (Which is what I thought I had to be to accept their money)

They want someone who’s responsive, open to feedback, and solves problems fast.

So if you’re where I was and still waiting…

Understand the writers landing retainer clients are the ones willing to try then learn on the fly.

They understand a simple concept…

Action breeds confidence.

Darion
