Learn this skill to dominate your own life in 2024

In August of 2022 I started writing every day.

Now I make a full time living as a writer online.

But there's an unexpected benefit that impacted all areas of my life....

My mind used to be chaotic.

Thoughts swirled through it with no organization.

All this did was make me feel stressed out and anxious.

This stress & anxiety came from feeling uncertain & out of control of my own life.

Almost as if my thoughts ruled me vs the other way around.

All I wanted was a clear purpose & direction for my life, but I didn’t have the clarity to do it.

I knew if I didn’t find it, I would wake up one day at 50 with massive regret.

One day I came across a random YouTube video from a guy named Dan Koe.

He talked about how developing a writing habit was crucial for his success.

Not only did he build a business around it, but he also talked about how much clarity it gave him.

With nothing to lose I gave it a shot.

I started small with doing a nightly brain dump in a journal.

After a week I noticed something interesting…

Writing my thoughts out in front of me was giving me insights into parts of me I wasn’t aware of.

They became like puzzle pieces I could order and make sense of.

Journalling and brain dumping then turned into writing out my vision for the future.

Over time that turned into crafting out my ideal life, my monthly, weekly, daily goals.

Eventually I started doing reflections at the end of the day answering questions like:

•What went well today?

•What didn't work well today?

•What can I improve on for tomorrow?

The wildest thing started to take place in my life.

With all this clarity, I stopped feeling anxious all the time.

I stopped overthinking & stressing over everything.

Because I knew I could write down what's on my mind, make sense of it, determine if it serves me, and move on.

This mental clarity is what our minds crave.

Here's a simple 3 step action plan you can use to start finding yours today:

How to build a writing habit

  1. Start with journalling

This is the best way to purge your thoughts out fast without expectations if they’re good or bad.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy.

It doesn’t have to take up a lot of time either.

Start with 2 minutes before bed and write anything on your mind.

It could be as simple as:

"This is my first journal entry. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet but excited to see where this takes me."

*Don’t worry if you believe you’re not creative enough. You’re writing out real thoughts you are experiencing here.

  1. Share some of your favorite thoughts online

Once you're comfortable create an account on LinkedIn or X & start posting 3 times a week.

This is how you start connecting with others.

The reason I recommend you start with 3 is because it's low enough to manage, but high enough to keep it top of mind.

*You won’t be a great writer right away, it’s a skill that’s built over time

  1. Refine them over time

You'll notice some ideas do better than others (more likes, comments, engagement)

It means they resonate most with others.

Those are the ones you want to double down on and refine.

This not only build/attracts an audience but helps give you the main thing you're after...clarity.

*This clarity doesn’t fix your problems. It identifies them so you can fix them & help others do the same.

*Remember:

Mental clarity is the door between you and a peaceful life designed to your liking.

Writing is the best way to open the door.

The key to building a sustainable writing habit is to start small and expand as your confidence does.

As you start to organize your thoughts and refine them, start sharing them with the world.

The clearer your mind the sharper your thoughts.

Without understanding who you’re targeting with your content you’ll never be able to resonate with them on a deeper level.

This leads to:

•No trust
