But I'm not here on vacation...

I'm working from my laptop.

Which is wild because 15 months ago, I struggled to land a client.

(Especially my first 6 months)

They were slow.

Realll slowww.

I wrote every single day with little results.

I had tons of self-doubt.

Thoughts like:

“Maybe this isn’t for me”

But I didn’t stop.

Fast forward to now, I’ve found some success.

But I'm not here to lie to you about this crazy digital nomad story.

I'm not going to pretend it's all fun and games.

The reality is 80% of my time here I've been doing client work and building my business.

I've been going to bed at 9 pm and waking up at 5am.

This is the reality if you want to build something great.

The problem I see with most new creators is they have unrealistic expectations.

When we chat the first question they ask is:

"How soon can I start making money?"

Which is cool, I get it.

We all want to make money.

But if that's your only goal you won't make it.

Why?

Because it took me 6 months to start making any money worth talking about.

This isn't some get rich quick scheme.

And guess what?

The people ahead of you…

They’re skilled.

Super skilled.

You think taking 1 course and writing a few posts on LinkedIn is going to put you ahead of them?

Now I know this a real dose of reality, and it might be hard to hear...

But it's true.

If you want to win at this game, you need to think more long-term.

Not only that, but your main focus also needs to be helping people.

Not on money.

(At least in the beginning)

If you don't, you'll:

🔹Get frustrated

🔹Eventually give up

🔹Keep the wrong intentions

How do I know?

Every single creator I started with on LinkedIn a year ago is gone except 1.

They all expected:

🔹Easy work

🔹Quick clients

🔹Instant freedom

Which couldn’t be further from reality.

Now it's not all bad I swear.

I’m here to offer you advice that’ll streamline the process.

These won't shortcut hard work...

But if I started over, I would focus all my time on these 3 levers:

3 key levers to success online

1. Networking/audience building

I’ll say it again:

Forget about money in the beginning.

Play the long game.

Because nothing compounds better than a strong network.

My last 3 clients have come from referrals.

What does that say?

It's easy to want to start cold DMing looking for clients.

But with no network or authority, nobody will trust you.

The best ways to network:

🔹Hop on calls

🔹Comment a sh*t ton

🔹DM people who engage back

In the beginning all you have is time, so use it.

2. Learn how to write great content

This doesn't only speed up step 1, but it's attractive for potential clients.

I'm not talking about posting personal stories with a selfie (which have their place)

I'm talking about content that:

🔹Hits real pain points

🔹Solves a burning problem

🔹Highlights a desired outcome

Don't overlook the importance of this.

The biggest creators are all beasts at writing content.

3. Don't give up

"Wow Darion, this is so obvious"

I know.

But this is something we HAVE to talk about.

Every creator you see killing it right now is there because they didn't stop.

They all started from 0 followers.

There are going to be days where you don't want to comment.

Where you don't want to write.

Where you don't want to send DM's.

But if you still show up these days,

I guarantee you'll win.

Maybe not in a day, or a month.

But you will win.
