The Easiest Way to Get An "Unfair Advantage" Against Other Creators In Your Niche

I used to feel it was rude to say “no” when I was invited out to events.

I'm not sure if it's a culture thing (I'm Canadian, we're super polite)

Or

If it's just the way my mom raised me.

But once I went all in online...

I had to start saying it.

A lot.

The problem with saying “yes” to every invitation:

It means your goals aren't meaningful enough to you.

And the more things you say “yes” to that aren't aligned with your goals...

The less:

🔹Time

🔹Focus

🔹Energy

You have for those goals.

This means the less you build towards your vision for your future.

Which means less progress… and eventually… unfulfillment.

So, what’s the unfair advantage I promised in the headline?

It’s adopting the mindset that saying “No” isn’t rude.

And trust me, your top competition has already realized this…

And applied it.

If you can internalize this, you’ll become the person nobody wants to compete with…

Because you’ll have more time to execute without distractions.

Now, it’s normal to want to go out when asked.

But the long-term benefits of reaching your goals will drastically outweigh the momentary pleasure you gain from going.

Remember:

You don't have to do this every day for the rest of your life.

It just needs to be something you focus on with bursts of intensity during your building phases.

What are building phases?

🔹Building a product

🔹Building a lead magnet

🔹Building your offer/funnel

You get the idea.

This isn’t a matter of “all work and no play”

Because if your goals are aligned with your vision, they will feel like play.

It’s a beautiful process.

You see a lot of people talk about finding balance in life.

But the tricky thing with balance is it’s not always 50/50.

Sometimes it's 80/20.

Sometimes it's 60/40.

Different seasons call for different extremes.

I want to be clear on something here though:

I'm not saying never see the light of day.

I’m not saying turn down your best friend’s wedding invitation because you’re “locked in”

Or to never see your family or socialize.

The idea is to use strategic 'no's' that free you to say 'yes' to events that rejuvenate your spirit and align with your goals.

A harsh reality is if you want success in any area of your life…

You have to make sacrifices.

The people who respect your vision most will understand.

So how do you determine what to say “No” to and what to say “Yes” to?

Simple.

Take my 3Q’s Test:

3Q’s Test

The test is simple.

Answer these 3 questions in order whenever you’re invited to something.

  1. Will it bring me joy and fulfillment?

  2. Does this align with my current short or long term goals?

  3. Can I be fully present and not think about my goals while I’m there?

If there is any “no” then politely turn down the invite.

That’s it.

This is the simple test that got me my first 1,000 followers in a month on LinkedIn.

It helped me hit my first $1k month, first 3k month, and even my first $5k month as a creator.

All because I realized it’s not rude to say “no”

That’s a wrap for this week…

Crazy we’re already 2 months into 2024!

I appreciate you taking time to spend some of it with me.

Until next Thursday,

Darion.
