Become Mentally Tough & Live Your Ideal Life

I used to think mental toughness meant being super strict & disciplined.

But as I got older and went through life changing challenges (like losing my eye)

I’ve realized it means your ability to:

•Challenge yourself daily

•Drown out outside opinions

•Bounce back fast from setbacks

And being relentless with all of them.

You see…

The biggest obstacle holding you back from living your best life:

Waiting for someone or something to save you.

This mentality deflects all responsibility off yourself.

Then you get trapped in your own negative habits.

Your mind gets weaker & weaker every time you give in to your vices, temptations, and self-destructive thoughts.

You begin to accept the easy road saying then make excuses like:

"I'm just going with the flow man."

Or

"Life doesn't have to be so serious."

Or even

"I'm waiting until the time is right."

When in reality...

You're being lazy.

You're giving into cheap pleasures that only make you feel good for a moment, but don't serve you in the long run.

Then you start to hate the thought of any challenge because it will bring you discomfort & temporary pain.

The reality is only you can save you.

Nobody can do it for you.

After you accept this,

The next step is to build up your mental toughness.

Without developing it, you're on a fast track to a life full of regret, lack of fulfillment, & 0 self-belief.

So how do you get started?

3 Steps to Develop Mental Toughness (you can start them today)

  1. Spend more time alone

(I'm not talking about video games or watching movies either)

•Start writing

•Meditate daily

•Go for walks without a phone

For writing:

Brain dump all your thoughts into a journal 5 minutes before bed.

For meditating:

Start with 2 minutes then work your way up

For walks:

Go for 10 minutes and increase the length over time.

The key is to start small then build on the habits.

These 3 are great ways to find clarity on who you actually are, what you want out of life, and who you want to become.

  1. Stop caring what others think of you

This enables you to live as the authentic you.

Because you may not realize it...

But we all have a natural fear of looking bad or failing in front of others.

We tend to avoid any situation that could result in either.

All this does is limit our own growth & stop us from pursuing our curiosities.

When you learn to drown out what others think,

You try new things, fail more, and grow faster.

  1. Challenge yourself daily

This builds the habit of embracing discomfort.

& discomfort leads to resiliency.

Once you start to build this, you become unstoppable.

No matter what life throws at you, you know you can take the challenge.

You stop asking:

"Why me?"

And start asking:

"How can I come back stronger?"

All because you've conditioned yourself to face challenges daily.

Start with tiny challenges.

It could be a workout, cleaning your room top to bottom, asking your crush out.

Whatever it is, set 1 every single day.

You'll start to build momentum.

And soon enough you'll start to trust yourself to handle any obstacle.

*Remember

Nobody is going to save you.

If you want to live your ideal life.

You must develop mental toughness.

Without it you'll build yourself a life you hate & feel like you have no way out of.

That’s it for this week!

I love keeping this conversational.
