My 7 Step Mindful Goal Setting System

“Goals transform a random walk into a chase.” ― Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

This quote hit home for me the first time I read it.

Not because it's overly insightful...

But because it highlights how having goals gives you direction & urgency.

Without a meaningful goal your life will feel unfulfilled.

What does unfulfilled mean?

To me feeling unfulfilled means having an internal longing for a different reality than the one you’re living.

With no goals, your life will be challenge-less and mundane.

You'll coast through it until you’re old and regret not building something you're proud of.

“Ok Darion we get it we need meaningful goals…”

Let’s talk about how to set them.

And to be clear, this is the exact same system I’ve used to:

•Hit all my fitness goals in record time

•Gain maximum clarity on my daily actions

•Grow my writing business to over 6-figures in 6 months

I wouldn’t give you something I know doesn’t work.

7 Step Mindful Goal Setting System

1. You need a vision

You can't create goals without an idea of where you want them to take you.

Imagine yourself in 1 year living your ideal life.

What does it look like?

Write it out in great detail.

I'm talking down to:

•Are you single?

•Where are you living?

•What are your hobbies?

•How much $ is in your bank account?

•What does a normal day looks like for you?

Get as specific as you can here.

Take your time writing this because it is the foundation for the rest.

2. Pick 1 goal for your career, health, and personal life

Now that you have a clear vision of what you want your life to look like in a year…it's time to get focused.

While referencing your vision, determine your greatest desire for your:

•Career

•Health

•Personal Life

Make sure you only pick 1 for each.

You need 1 thing to focus on only.

3. Break them down into quarterly goals

This takes them from intangible goals to actionable outcomes.

Where do you need to be at the end of each quarter to make that vision come true in a year?

Write out where you need to be by:

•April 1st

•July 1st

•Oct 1st

•Jan 1st next year

4. Break those into monthly goals

Now you'll start to see the actions it'll take clearer.

Ask yourself what you'll need to do by the end of each month to bring you closer to your quarterly goals.

*I do mine at the start of each month

5. Set your weekly goals for each month

At this point you're taking all the guess work out with this.

Each weekly goal needs to take you 1 step closer to hitting your monthly goal.

You should start to notice how clear your map is getting.

6. Set daily goals

This gives you complete clarity on what to take action on from the moment you wake up.

These goals will be in complete alignment with your vision from step 1.

*I plan my daily goals for the upcoming week on Sunday.

7. Relentless action

All the planning in the world is meaningless without this.

You created your treasure map, now it's time to go get your prize.

Nobody can do this part for you.

But it's the difference between living an average unfulfilled life,

& building towards a meaningful life.

Fulfillment comes when you're building towards something meaningful to you.
